Ghost Walk
September 26 to November 1, 2008
The Fourth Annual Gallatin Ghost Walk, a family-friendly stroll
through the history and mystery of Gallatin and Sumner County will
be held on Friday and Saturday nights from September 26 through
November 1.
Each year The Ghost Walk donates a portion of its proceeds to a
worthy area cause and this year, the beneficiary is Safe Place for
Animals, an animal rescue/adoption center in Gallatin, which plans
to open a low cost spay/neuter clinic later this fall.
“Ghost Walk intertwines the diverse history of Sumner County with
spine-tingling stories of haunts and mysterious happenings,” says
tour creator and presenter Donna Hartley Lucas.
“Gallatin’s public square is called the most haunted public square
in America, and with good reason, ”says Lucas, adding , “There are
16 identifiable ‘spirits’ in one building alone: the former law
office of Andrew Jackson, featured in a recent ‘Southern Haunts’
documentary, as well as a Courthouse ghost,” she adds.
“The Ghost Walk is a family-friendly event; we are not a 'spookhouse'
venue and there are no scary masks or gory characters; our
presenters do dress in period attire,” Lucas notes.
She adds, “We walk the Square and several blocks surrounding the
Square, treating guests to stories of old Sumner County and her
'spirits,’ and the unique history that makes our area so special.
So, slow down, take a walk with us and see things you don't see when
you are driving hurriedly by... you might even see a 'ghost'....
some of our guests have!”
Reservations are required.
Call 512-5299 for details.
Price is $10 per person, age 6 and under FREE.

Donors Choose is a national, non-profit organization
designed to help teachers get needed supplies for their classrooms.
Teachers submit proposals to Donors Choose, and Donors Choose
reviews the requests and places them on their web site. At
this point, any individual in the world can search the database for
proposals they would like to fund in whole or in part.
Once the project is fully funded, Donors Choose ships the requested supplies directly to the teacher. The teacher sends a thank-you letter [through Donors Choose] to the donor who completed the funding on his/her proposal. In addition, the teacher sends thank-you letters from each student along with photos of the class using the donated supplies.
It's actually quite fun to see how this works!
Donors Choose has just opened their program to teachers in Tennessee. We encourage teachers in Gallatin and surrounding areas to submit proposals to Donors Choose!
Gallatin is the county seat of Sumner County, Tennessee and is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Nashville. Gallatin sits beside Old Hickory Lake which is world-famous for its fishing and other recreational activities. Many people find Gallatin to be the perfect place to live: beautiful homes, good schools, vibrant industries, great shopping and restaurants, good roads, and nice people.
The extension of TN 386 was completed in 2007. This means that you can drive on four-lane, limited-access freeways all the way from Gallatin to Nashville. Because of the new freeway, Gallatin has become one of the hottest real estate markets in Middle Tennessee.
